COUNCIL CALLS
FOR YOUTH CENTRE
Councillors from Monmouthshire County Council and Caldicot Town Council
met to discuss proposals for a youth centre in Caldicot. It was stated
that such a centre would help to tackle the problem of anti-social behavior
in the town. It has been suggested that part of the £250,000 cost
could come from the proceeds of the sale of the school playing field.
NEW COUNCILLOR
ELECTED
Plaid Cymru increased its representation on Caldicot town council when
John Marshall won the Dewstow ward by-election. Mr Marshall, who replaces
Labour’s Sue Williams, polled 162 to Labour’s 96. The turnout
was just 18%. There will be a by-election in Caldicot’s West End
ward on 22 September.
INDUSTRIAL
ESTATES TO GET FACE LIFT
Pill Farm and Severnbridge Industrial Estates are to benefit from Welsh
Assembly and County Council grants totally around £30,000 for landscaping
and improved security.
