MURDER CHARGE
Former Llanwern steelworker Michael Farley, of Ash Grove Caldicot, has
been charged with murdering his wife, Shirley Farley, aged 69, at the
couple’s home on 14 June. Mr Farley, aged 72, was remanded in custody
after appearing at Newport Crown Court on a video link form Cardiff prison.
RAIL CUTS
Caldicot commuters have been joined by local MP Jessica Morden in expressing
concern at the cutting of vital train services from Severn Tunnel Junction
to Bristol, Newport and Cardiff by train operators First Great Western.
PETITION
PRESENTED
Mr Tony Easson has presented a 2,400 name petition to Monmouthshire County
Council, protesting against cuts in the opening period of Caldicot castle.

ON TEENAGE DRINKERS
Caldicot police confiscated alcohol from 34 young drinkers in the grounds
of Caldicot castle and from a further four on the field of Sudbrook Cricket
Club in two operations timed to coincide with leavers’ day at Caldicot
Comprehensive School.

WATCH
The cheapest property advertised in the local press for sale in Caldicot
at the end of June 2006 was a top floor flat in Oakley Way with two double
bedrooms at £99,950.
The cheapest house was a three-bedroomed semi-detached property in Newport
Road at £122,950. The most expensive was a five-bedroomed detached
house in Budden Crescent at £389,950.
