On Monday 24th October 2005 a private party of 30 students with teachers from Bolanden Schule, Wiesental arrived in Caldicot for a four-day visit of Caldicot and South Wales.

On Tuesday morning the Mayor of Caldicot, Paul Tidmarsh held a reception at the Day luncheon Centre, Sandy Lane, to welcome the visitors. After the reception the Mayor escorted the student on a tour of Caldicot Castle.

During the visit Jean Curnock Head of Languages, Caldicot School and Doris Smuk from Bolanden Schule has set up a link to introduce pen friend links between the students of both Schools.

On Friday 2 students from the party, Viktor Viktor Fichtenau and Fabian Bluemle visited Caldicot Fire Station

30 years ago, Germany underwent Local government Boundary changes which incorporated Wiesental, Kirrlach and Waghausel, the name of the new district was taken from the smallest of the three villages Waghausel.

The 30 year anniversary of the formation of Waghausel took place in early September 2005, the Mayor of Caldicot, Paul Tidmarsh was invited with the two other twin town mayor's from Flattach in Austria and Szigetujfalu in Hungary to joining Waghausel anniversary festivities.
