Schools

Caldicot School is a popular 11 – 18 co-educational school. Its first comprehensive intake was in 1969. Further extensions in 1973/74 included a Sports Hall and swimming pool. There are 1480 pupils on roll.

It is a popular and oversubscribed school with a growing role. We are the first choice for the majority of pupils and families in Caldicot and the surrounding areas.

The school is situated on the edge of Caldicot town in 50 acres of grounds offering an excellent location, which is both tranquil and safe for the pupils in order to concentrate on their education.

There are four main teaching blocks, a science suite, two blocks of technical workshops, a special education unit, two gymnasia, a large Sports Hall, Astroturf and swimming pool.

Caldicot in educational terms fosters respect for others, for property and for the school in an atmosphere, which reinforces good habits and encourages pupils' pride in themselves and their achievements. Attention is paid to the individual needs of all pupils to ensure that every child leaves the school achieving their personal best.

The school is firstly a learning centre, offering a caring, friendly atmosphere in which the pupils work to their full potential in an orderly and positive environment.

Secondly, it is a family centre in which parents are welcomed and their contributions encouraged. Finally, the school is a centre developing mutually beneficial relationships in the community.

We endeavour to secure a structured and orderly learning environment, giving all pupils equal opportunity to grow in an atmosphere, which values effort and achievement. Different styles of teaching and learning and good relationships make it a school where pupils wish to be.

During the day the school is fortunate enough to have use of the extensive sports facilities at Caldicot Leisure Centre. At all other times it is used by the community.
