Much has been said about the U3A website but this month I urge you to visit the BBCi Website (Wales, South East)
Website link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/southeast/sites/caldicot/
The site contains a lot of information about Caldicot.
Present activities include basic computer training and digital photography and these are to be supplemented in 2005 with training on the use of the Internet and surfing the World Wide Web. Most addresses today are website addresses, including our own organisation and it is felt essential that we know how to access them.
Dave Edwards
The membership of this Group has now reached over 40, a sure sign that the world of IT is well appreciated by the older generation. The Group has split into 3 sub-groups for the purposes of tuition. There is a computer skills group covering all aspects of computer operation and beginners and advanced digital photography group.
It must be stressed that the Computer Group does not exist only for experienced people, if you have no experience at all but would like to learn about computers you will be welcomed. The membership varies from highly skilled people to rank beginners-all are welcome.
With U3A visitors from the Forest of Dean today we were in excess of 55 U3A members.
After a practical workout with the computers, Bob Taylor-Heard took us through the digital photo competition, photo by photo, pointing out "In the nicest possible way" how we could have done better!
We would like to thank our visitors for joining in our activities and a special thanks to their Chairman, Pat Robertson for presenting our digital photo competition winners with their trophies.
Computing Group Christmas Lunch 2003
At our Christmas Lunch, held at the Dewstow golf club, the computer group members and their partners took the opportunity to say thank you to retiring computer convenor, Dennis Appleton. Our U3A Vice Chairman Glenice Dallow made the presentation of a decanter and something to fill it. Glenice went on to thank Dennis for all the work he had put into the group since it's formation.
After thanking everyone for the wonderful gifts Dennis went on to say our membership was as low as three at one time but was now a very healthy forty seven, he then wished David Edwards our new computer convenor (centre) every success for the future.
