Twinning between Caldicot and Morieres May 2005
On Wednesday 5th May a group of people led by Caldicot Mayor Ron Stewart travelled to Morières near Avignon in France to witness the signing of the twinning between Caldicot and Morières.
There was representation from The Town Council, Caldicot Comprehensive School, Caldicot Chamber Commerce and of our twenty nine representatives, seven were from Caldicot & District U3A.On arrival at Morières we were overwhelmed at the warm reception with Welsh flags and bunting everywhere. The local shops not to be outdone displaying their wares in Welsh.

On the recent Gardening group trip to the Loire Valley our members had ample opportunity to try out their French on local shopkeepers.
In this photograph our U3A French convenor,
Terry Williams takes the lead. His wife Tresna , Vanda and Brian seem somewhat amused at their own efforts to speak the language.
We are a small group who meet every Tuesday morning at the home of one of our members.
We follow a text book "French for Starters", and every other week we compose a story in French of something that happened during that period.
It is then discussed and corrected by the members.
The emphasis is on an informal approach to learning French."Tous le monde est bienvenue a notre petit group"
Everyone is welcome to our little group.© Caldicot and District U3A mmvi
