U3A Instrumental Group (the BAND!): by Eric Taylor

The U3A Instrumental group were grafted onto an existing group of players from the 'Rarebits' Ceilidh band who practised regularly during the daytime.

With the addition of new players the repertoire was quickly expanded to take in a wider sphere of musical experience

There are now seven musicians with varying degrees of proficiency and experience but we all enjoy playing together. We can produce a programme to meet almost any need or desire, we have a limited command of the modern idiom, though dance music often figures strongly in our programme.

Our concerts are usually weekday, daytime concerts but we will try to oblige where demand falls outside this period.

We play regularly for senior citizen groups, hospital and local homes, we are particularly popular with the Forest of Dean U3A who use us to support a number of their functions the latest being a Tea Dance.

New musicians ( in the loosest sense of the word ) are always welcome and we always look forward to invitations to play.
